Ruvuma

Ruvuma Region, in southern Tanzania bordering Mozambique, has a genuinely dual commodity profile. It is one of the Tanzania Coffee Board’s named leading Arabica regions, with production historically associated with the Matengo Highlands and Mbinga District. It is simultaneously a cashew region: Tunduru and Namtumbo districts are major cashew-growing areas, and the government designated Tunduru as one of three national Cashew Processing Zones. In Cashewnut Board of Tanzania 2025/26 season auction data, Ruvuma (combined with Coast Region in some reporting) sold roughly 40,000 tonnes of raw cashew — on the order of 9% of the season’s reported regional total, clearly smaller than Mtwara or Lindi.
